About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and perform mass spectrometry-based assays to support target validation, mechanism-of-action, and drug discovery projects
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) systems
- Prepare samples (pre-clinical and clinical) from a variety of different biological matrices (cells, biofluids, and tissues) for quantitative LC-MS of drug candidates, small molecules and proteins
- Develop and implement LC-MS analysis workflows, including both sample preparation and targeted MS methodology
- Analyze data and present results to the lab and to project teams
- Accountable for increasingly complex experiments
Minimum requirements:
- BSc/MSc in natural science - analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biological sciences, or related fields with relevant initial professional experience or an equivalent education with several years of professional experience in LC-MS (hands-on mass spectrometry experience is a must)
- Sound knowledge of LC-MS, e.g. triple quadrupole instrumentation
- Knowledge of a variety of sample preparation techniques of biological matrices (e.g. liquid liquid extraction, solid phase extraction, proteomics sample preparation, metabolite extraction)
- Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to learn new skills and core competences in mass spectrometry
- Self-motivated and an excellent team player, who demonstrates good communication skills and creative problem-solving capabilities, and enjoys working in a collaborative team-oriented environment
- Well-organized, show initiative, positive attitude, commitment, and flexibility
- Computational data analysis skills (coding is a plus)
Languages:
- Fluent in English
- French or German is an advantage
